3 Seattle Bathroom Design Ideas for 2012
For homeowners considering remodeling, the bathroom is second only to the kitchen in terms of popularity as a remodeling project. Some of that, no doubt, is due to the fact that money invested in the bath—like the kitchen—gives you a good return on your investment. So what should you do with your bathroom?
Often homeowners don’t put the words bathroom and style together. And yet, picking a style or theme for your bathroom can give it the pizzazz it needs to take it from being “just another room” to being a “wow” room. Here are three design ideas for you consideration.
Bring the Great Outdoors Indoors: You can use hardwoods and other natural materials (such as stonework) to bring the look and feel of nature into your bathroom. Windows and skylights can add to the natural feel by letting in lots of natural light.
The Glass is Half Full: Windows aren’t the only place where you can use glass. Translucent glass panels can help you create a sense of privacy that also opens up your bathroom with light and space. If you have a smaller bathroom to work with, the additional light helps create a sense of extra space—and comfort.
Warm up Your Bath: For years the bathroom has been the domain of neutral, or off-white colors. There’s been an absence of color in everything from floors to walls and fixtures that have often left bathrooms (and their occupants) feeling cold. Warm colored tiles with some bold accents can bring warmth into your bathroom. But don’t stop at just the color! Consider the impact of a steam shower for real warmth. And ask your builder about subfloor heating that will keep you warm both before and after your shower.
What’s your bathroom style? Or what’s your biggest bathroom design challenge? We’d love to hear from you!
