Seattle Remodel - Getting the Biggest Bang for your Buck

Kitchen and Bath RemodelOne of the most frequently asked remodeling questions we get is, “What areas of renovation will give me the biggest return on investment?” First and foremost, you should improve the things that will make your home more enjoyable for you! After all, you’re the one living there! However, there are certain areas that have demonstrable value when it’s time to sell your house.

KITCHEN REMODEL: You almost never hear a buyer complain that the kitchen is too large, or that there is too much counter space, or cupboard space. The kitchen is, without question, the best place to spend money if you’re looking to get money back (and you’ll enjoy it, too!)

FAMILY ROOM REMODEL: It’s better to err on the side of too large when creating a family room. This is where families gather (other than the kitchen!) and spend most of their time. If you can, make it even larger than you think it needs to be.

MASTER BATH REMODEL: More than ever, this room has become a retreat. Money spent to upgrade the master bath and its finishes will pay dividends when it’s time to sell.

ROOM SIZE: While not a specific room or area, the size of your rooms is important. Make them large enough to meet your needs. It’s very expensive to increase room size after the fact. It’s actually better to hold off on other improvements and put the money into the size of the rooms.

CLOSETS: They may not seem sexy to you, but you should never underestimate the value of roomy, walk-in closets, linen closets, and laundry rooms.

What do you think gives you the most bang for your buck?  We would love to hear your thoughts!
